Chiropractic

Chiropractors use hands-on spinal manipulation and other alternative treatments. The theory is that proper alignment of the body's musculoskeletal structure, particularly the spine, will enable the body to heal itself without surgery or medication.

Honesty to me means living what you preach, so I live my life with a healthy intent and practice similarly. I believe the patient is at the center of everything and include you as an integral part of your plan of care. A big part of my practice is energy work because we are all energetic beings at our core, working only with how far you want to go. I exclusively use a very low force technique called Activator to allow me to gently adjust your spine, bones, muscles and soft tissue that need to be aligned and/or a reset. Because most of us stay in a perpetual state of stress, I spend longer with my patients to help you remember what it feels like to relax and to give your body a chance to truly start healing. Some people fall asleep on the table!

ABOUT ME

- I am originally from Charlotte, NC and graduated from UNC-Chapel Hill in 1981 with a degree in Economics.
- After college, I obtained my paralegal certification in Atlanta, where upon graduation I moved to Mobile, AL. I worked as a corporate and probate paralegal mainly but did all areas of law.
- I was going through a divorce and didn't know what I wanted to do. Chiropractic came up as an option and I started Sherman College of Chiropractic in Spartanburg in 1999. I graduated valedictorian of my class in 2002 (I still don't know how I did that as a single parent with 3 small children!) and have been in active practice as an Activator doc since 2003.
My 3 beautiful daughters are all grown now. My oldest is also a chiropractor and joined us in June of 2021. In addition to building her practice, she teaches anatomy/physiology at USC Beaufort. My middle lives in Arden, NC with her husband and daughter. I will be more than glad to share pics of my precious grandbaby with those who want to see them! My youngest has recently moved to Beaufort to determine what is next for her after spending time in NYC on Broadway where she was cast as the lead for several musicals.

WHY BEAUFORT?

I grew up around the beach/water. My parents loved the beach and we were there as much as possible. I worked summers during college waitressing at the beach. It's my happy place. For the last couple of years, I've been hearing (that gentle voice all of us have) I needed to be near the water, but I didn't know where. I kept being drawn to Beaufort and once I visited, totally understood why. It is a beautiful town, not too big and oh my… the water! My ex-husband’s family originates from Beaufort (his lineage is from the Lewis Reeve Sams side) and even though I'm a Sams by marriage only, I love history and the little dots that connect us all. I am moving from a small town in the western NC mountains where I have lived, raised my girls and practiced since 2003. I've enjoyed being there, but it's time for my next chapter. I am so excited to meet and build a new relationship with each and every one of you!
